New Wines at Macadoodles
Arkansas may have the Razorbacks….but Macadoodles has Bourgeois Pig!
[This blog was written by Karl Calini owner of Bourgeois Pig] – Bourgeois Pig wines are brought to us by two local guys: Karl Calini, a Southern French native, and Jerry Kenefake, a Kansas City native. Karl and Jerry’s goal is to offer great wine of exceptional quality that can be enjoyed daily, as the French do. Using some of the finest grapes from the South of France, each bottle will bring you the tastes of the region, pleasing even the most discriminating wine connoisseur. The taste will surely impress your upper-class Bourgeois (“BOOZ-jwa”) guests, as the price will still let you go HOG WILD…. Enjoy, and as the Bourgeois Pig triumphantly says, “Let them drink wine!” - Karl Calini

The 2010 Tomboy is that really amazing day or two that you spent with your friend’s friend who was passing through town. Your friend was too busy to entertain, so he passed her into your care for the weekend. She was from a big city, savvy and exciting, but with an infectious laugh that put you at ease. The two of you hit it off, but she moved on and you never saw her again. The 2010 Tomboy is how you remember those few short days. Scents of pretty white flowers, lemon verbena, cinnamon, clementines, wet sidewalks and pink peppercorns. The palate has all the richness of those warm summer evenings and the subtleties of white tea, almond oil, laurel leaves and a cool, quartz-like minerality. Truly a wine to bring you back. (DRINK NOW: 1-2 hour decant, CELLAR: 5 years)
2010 Nuts And Bolts
792 cases made
You know that old saying about the blind men and the elephant? About how one guy is touching the trunk of the elephant and thinks it’s a snake and the other guy is touching a leg and thinks it’s a tree? But because neither of them can “see” the whole animal they don’t know what it is? Well Nuts & Bolts always reminds me of that. There’s something about taking little pieces of a lot of different vineyards from Santa Barbara County to Paso Robles, that tells you more about the vintage in an instant than any single vineyard wine could. Nuts & Bolts is kind of like being able to see the whole elephant in that way, and this year is no different. The 2010 Nuts & Bolts has the intensity and intrigue I think 2010 will be known for. It smells like a highclass picnic in a redwood forest: smoked ribs, red velvet cake, chocolate covered cherries, cologne, caraway, violets and olive. The palate takes you on a hike deep into the forest, with juniper berries, black tea, red licorice and rich tannins that hit you like a bear attack.
This wine has a red ruby color with purple tones. It’s a young and fresh wine with a soft nose that reminds us of and black plums with a hint of spicy notes. In mouth it presents soft and balanced tannins, aligned to the fruitiness that characterizes this wine.
Novy Four Mile Creek Red
Syrah, zinfandel, grenache, nebbiolo and viognier are blended into Novy Family Wines’ Four Mile Creek, a cherry and spice concoction that is one of those surprises that gets better with each sip.
Hugues Beaulieu Picpoul de Pinet
Pale yellow color with green tints. Fresh and fine aromas of grapefruit and exotic fruit. Lime flavors, with typical focusing acidity, are hallmarks of Picpoul. Our best value, this wine impresses novices and hardened geeks equally. Known as ‘the Muscadet of the South’ in France, this is to the Mediterranean coast of France what Albarino is to northwest Spain-the default wine for fresh shellfish & seafood.
Hunky Dory Sauvignon Blanc
Hunky Dory Sauvignon Blanc is a succulent Marlborough style of wine offering tropical fruit notes packed with fresh gooseberry flavours. This wine has a full flavoured lingering finish. Hunky Dory Sauvignon Blanc is designed for casual dining and can be enjoyed as a refreshing aperitif. It is excellent with salads, seafood (especially oysters!) or anytime a refreshing Sauvignon Blanc is called for.
Secco Italian Bubbles
Beautiful, vibrant Rose. Alpine strawberry, black raspberry, Italian dark cherries and crushed stone. Smooth, long and sexy…these bubbles deliver!
White peach, lychee and jasmine in the aroma and on the palate. This wine is so flavorful, and at 5% alcohol, one glass is never enough!
Beau Vignac Syrah Rose
This wine from Pays des Cotes de Thau, silky and distinguished , is characterized by a brilliant raspberry color. Cherry and violet aromas with a nice bouquet.
Intense, deep red colour with fine hints of crimson. The nose offers pleasant aromas of red and dark fruit, with red currants, also some mint and cedar. The bouquet fills out with notes of vanilla, spices and mocha, characteristic of French oak.
This is a dense, complex wine, with good tannic structure. The lingering finesse of the tannins gives the wine good length and a pleasant, soft mouthfeel. Deep, aromatic and complex with very appealing intense fruit. Has yet to reach its peak.
