National Margarita Day

National Margarita Day is on Saturday, February 22nd and Macadoodles wants to help you craft the perfect margarita.

Margaritas are comprised of tequila, liqueur, citrus/ other fruits, and sugar. It is the most popular alcoholic beverage that uses Tequila.

We have a large assortment of tequilas, premixes, liqueurs, fresh citrus and a helpful staff who would love to help you out.

Todd McCalla was the creator of National Margarita Day and it was started to, “celebrate Margaritas, plain and simple.”

Margaritas are the perfect cocktail for any occasion. Whether you’re relaxing after a long week of work or having a party with friends, the margarita always delivers.

Here are 3 simple recipes:

Classic Margarita:

1.5 oz silver tequila

1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec.)

3/4 oz freshly squeezed lime juice

Optional sweetener: agave nectar or simple syrup

Lime wedge

Coarse salt (rimming the glass)

Instructions:

  1. Salt rim by running a lime slice around the top rim of a glass. 
  2. Fill a shallow bowl with salt, and dip the rim in.
  3. Add tequila, orange liqueur and lime juice to a cocktail shaker, and shake (or stir) until combined. 
  4. Taste, and if you would like the margarita to be sweeter, stir in a half teaspoon of agave or simple syrup at a time.
  5. Fill glass with ice. 
  6. Pour in the margarita mixture over the ice. 
  7. Garnish with a lime wedge.
  8. Enjoy!

Champagne Margarita:

1.5 oz tequila

1 oz orange liqueur

1 oz fresh squeeze lime juice

2 – 3 oz champagne

Lime wedge

Sugar (rimming the glass)

Instructions:

  1. Sugar the rim of Champagne flute by running a lime slice around the top.
  2. Fill a shallow bowl with sugar, and dip the rim in.
  3. Combine the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice in a glass, stir until mixed.
  4. Pour in Champagne flute.
  5. Top off glass with champagne.
  6. Garnish with a lime wedge.
  7. Enjoy!

Premium Margarita:

1.5 oz  Patrón Reposado

1 oz     Patrón Citrónge Orange

.75 oz  Fresh lime juice

.25 oz  Simple syrup, to taste

Lime wedge

Kosher salt (rimming the glass)

Instructons:

  1. Salt rim by running a lime slice around the top rim of a glass. 
  2. Fill a shallow bowl with salt, and dip the rim in.
  3. Add Patrón, Patrón Citrónge Orange and lime juice to a cocktail shaker, and shake (or stir) until combined. 
  4. Fill glass with ice. 
  5. Strain into a salt-rimmed martini or rocks glass.
  6. Garnish with a lime wheel.
  7. Cheers!

One of the best things about margaritas is that they can be crafted in a lot of fun and unique ways.

Here are ways to liven up your cocktail:

  • Add beer (simply leave room in the glass and add your bubbly brew to taste.)
  • Add freshly pureed berries and summer fruit.
  • Incorporate sorbet to frozen margarita to add rich creaminess and consistency.
  • Add in Coconut cream for a Pina Margarita.
  • Add fresh herbs like mint.
